When Lea qualified for the 2008 Beijing Games, he solidified another chapter in his family?s Olympic legacy . His brother, Syd Lea, made the Special Olympics as a cyclist in 2007 & 2011, earning five gold medals . Lea?s father was an Olympic rower at the 1964 Tokyo Games . His mother has been a longtime USA Cycling board member . Lea was the only American to qualify for 1 of only 18 coveted Omnium starting positions during the London 2012 Olympics . Lea and his teammate from Beijing are the only Americans ever to compete in the Madison at an Olympic Games .
